Recitation of the Quran: A Divine Blessing and Spiritual Elevation
Translation: “Rather, they are clear verses in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge. And none deny Our verses except the wrongdoers.” (Quran 29:49)
This verse highlights that the clear and pure teachings of the Quran are preserved in the hearts of the learned, especially the Hafiz and scholars, whose hearts hold the light of Allah’s words. The Quran has remained safeguarded in the hearts of its followers from the time of its revelation to the present day. Allah mentions the honor of such individuals in His divine revelation.
Although jealousy (Hasad) is generally discouraged in Islam, it is permissible in two cases. The first is when someone is blessed by Allah with the Quran and spends their day and night reciting it. Their neighbor, upon hearing this, wishes for the same blessing, hoping to memorize and recite the Quran as beautifully. The second case is when a person is granted wealth by Allah and spends it in His path. Others, upon seeing this, wish to have the same wealth, so they too can spend it in Allah’s cause.
The Reward of Reciting and Learning the Quran
When a person engages in the recitation and learning of the Quran, Allah fulfills all their needs. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“مَنْ شَغَلَهُ الْقُرْآنُ وَذِكْرِي حَتَّى سَأَلَنِي لَا أُعْطِيَنَّهُ أَفْضَلَ مِمَّا أَعْطِيَ السَّائِلِينَ“
Translation: “Whosoever is so engaged with the Quran and My remembrance that he does not ask from Me, I will give him more than what I give to those who ask from Me.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)
This profound Hadith reflects that reciting the Quran occupies such a lofty position that Allah, the Almighty, bestows immense rewards on those who engage with His words sincerely. The Quran is a means of salvation and elevation in both this world and the Hereafter.
